GTI Internatioal - the best Dub show in the world? Judgimg by this year's turn
out, it is.
Every year we waffle on about GTI International being massive, great and generally
the best Dub show on the planet, so why chance things this year, hey? As opposed
to last year's soggy set-backs, the millennium bash saw sun, sun and more sizzling
sunshine. The fact we all ended up with sunstroke for the entire week after
was the only major downer.

It was an absolute scorcher and the car's weren't bad either. For the fellas, the
mini heat wave brought out plenty of laydeez and bare flesh. And to keep the females
in attendance happy the PVW editorial team could be found polishing up their biceps
next to the Comma Oils stand... if you know where we're coming from.
As we're sure you're all aware, the event' held over two days, usually in early May,
at the Transport Research Laboratories in Crowthorne, Berkshire. People come from as
far afield as the States to catch up on the latest European trends and have a good
chin-wag with fellow Dubaholics. Y2K highlights included Awesome's 1.8T 6-speed Mk2,
Dubsport's latest freak creation, a 600bhp Mk3 Golf packing two blown VR6 motors and
also Jabba Sport's 1.8T-powered Rallye, now blown by a supercharger.
Missed the show or only attended one of the days? Well, we've compiled the usual top
quality pictorial for you to enjoy. Who knows, you might even catch a glimpse of you
own motor if you look close enough. Old favourites, such as Simon Leung's Rallye VR6,
Veedub's lime Mk3 and Premier's dream team of stunners still drew the crowds. It goes
without saying we packed 'em in on the PVW stand, too. Impact's Mk3 (now running additional
Impreza bonnet vents and an Evo 6-derived front bumper), Carl Taylor's low-rider Corrado
and Sanjev Bhamm's Rallye were just a few of the past master to grace our plot. You may
have even clocked a glance of our latest project car, which has been two years in the making.
We chose to debut Buzzbox at the event, even thought not quite complete. The read racer
should hit the mag within the next couple of issues, so keep an eye out.

Euro Dynamics displayed its Abt Mk4, sitting pretty an 19" five spokes - they just get
bigger. Guess we'll all be on 20s next year, which doesn't bare thinking about. Us,
we're kinda divided on rim size. The ginger one (that's Greg) likes 'em big while the
rest of us are still true fans of the wide-boy Euro-look - note the amazing 8x15"
Schmidt split-rims fitted to Buzzbox.
It doesn't matter how many times you've visited GTI International, the show's got
a habit of knocking yer socks off every time. In the show area you're greeted by
the UK's top concours motors doing battle with other European machines from Germany;
Holland, Belgium and France, to name but a few. While out an the drag strip, the
likes of top-nutter Ian Birch, from Dubsport, could be found mixing it with Dutch
madman, Jeroen Dik, and the Dialynx team for top honours.
Once again, the Dialynx Sport Quattro spoilt a lot of people's day with some truly
amazing quarter sprints. In all, it was clear everybody had a damn good bash, even
if the organisers did get a little power-crazed at times limiting the concours entrants,
banning music and so on. S'pose it's better that way than your regular Essex cruise
with people getting hurt and cars getting torched. But hey, that's probably all Fords
are good for anyway… keep on Dubbing!
