In comparison with the conventional one-piece rims, the three-piece rims offer various advantages:

• The rotation-symmetric manufacture of the three-piece Schmidt rims causes the material to be spread evenly. As a result, there is no wheel imbalance. This, in turn, leads to an improved rim concentricity that has a positive effect in the high-speed range in particular and that is clearly better than that of one-piece rims or wheels.
   
• The high material compaction gained due to the special Schmidt production process allows for particularly low wall thicknesses, which result in a drastic weight reduction.
   
• And last but not least, the three-piece rims provide more varied mounting options. The wheel can be adapted to the car at optimum, with the widths and offsets being highly variable. Besides, three-piece rims allow for a better repair capability and a deeper base than normal aluminium rims.
